Soda and Avocados – Ceramics

Well, summer is around the corner and we say good bye to another semester of school, I had a wonderful time at Waubonsee’s Ceramics Program. I got the wonderful opportunity to wood burn my work and use a soda kiln in addition to the reduction kiln. I have quite a bundel of work I made this spring!

These are from a soda kiln burning.

These are all very experimental, i have no prior experience with slips and glazes so i just when crazy with the chemicals! Obviously getting some very interesting effects…

Here is the more….Rosa-Majigs inspired work i made! i really had fun with this stuff! lol

Like my avocado bowls!

and an egg bowl!

…a lemon slice plate!

And finally a nice strawberry cup!

Today i get to go help fire the anagama kiln at school for a few hours. I have a lot of work in there to be wood fired! I am told that this kiln is quite the rare treat since there are only about 3 other known anagamas in Illinois and a few in the states.

See ya later!! XO

Thanx for reading!
